The Science

What is Leptin?

Leptin is a hormone that plays an important role in regulating how energy is processed in the body via appetite and metabolism. It is a very important "adipose derived hormone." The existence of leptin was discovered in 1950 during a study of mice that had been genetically modified to be obese. It was discovered that injections of leptin caused the mice to lose excess body fat and return to their normal weight. Since then, leptin has been the subject of decades of research into obesity and weight loss. (See Wikipedia for more information on leptin)

What is Adiponectin?

Adiponectin is a protein hormone is believed to modulate metabolic processes, including the regulation of glucose and the breakdown of fatty acids in the body. Andiponectin is 'inversely correlated' with body fat percentage, meaning that the less of it in the body, the higher the body fat. Thus, raising levels of this hormone actually helps decrease body fat. Adiponectin also plays a role in helping to prevent problems with the metabolism that may result in type 2 diabetes, obesity, artherosclerosis, and fatty liver disease. (See Wikipedia for more information on adiponectin)

How does it all work?

The active ingredient in Citrexa™ works to reduce levels of leptin and insulin in the body, and raise levels of adiponectin. Overeating and high calorie foods can create leptin resistance in the body over time, which causes problems with the way that the body both takes in and processes energy. Simply put, this means that a person with leptin resistance will eat more, feel "full" more slowly, and that their body will not as readily burn the food as energy, but will instead store some of it as unneeded fat. Additionally, since adiponectin levels will be lowered, the body will retain more fat and add to it over time. It doesn't take a scientist to realize that if a person eats more, doesn't burn the additional calories as energy and instead stores them as fat, and over time builds up an increasing resistance so the problem compounds, a person will gain a lot of unnecessary body fat and weight as a result.

The active ingredient in Citrexa™ has been clinically proven to assist in solving all of these problems.

Clinical Study Information

In the double-blind clinical study done at the University of Connecticut on the active ingredient in Citrexa™ it was concluded that Citrexa™, when taken with proper diet and exercise, can result in significant body weight and body fat reductions, as well as a reduction in the level of leptin and insulin and an increase in the level of adiponectin.

Women who took the active ingredient saw an average weight loss of 20.28 lbs in 8 weeks, versus only 11.9 pounds in the group taking a placebo. They also had significantly more body fat loss than the control group. Waist, hip, and thigh circumference were significantly reduced due to weight and fat loss on the product.
